In celebration of the beautiful summery weather and the highly-anticipated return of my favorite comedy series, here is a kosher recipe for delectable frozen bananas. With such few ingredients, this treat is easy to make and cost-effective. Frozen bananas can be eaten immediately or stored in the freezer for up to a week.
Ingredients
8 medium bananas (ripe but still firm)
8 wooden popsicle sticks
32 ounces of semisweet chocolate chips
3 tablespoons butter
Optional: dipping decorations such as chopped nuts or sprinkles
Dairy
Yield: 8 servings
Prep time: 30 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Freeze time: 1-2 hours
Directions:
Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Peel bananas and insert popsicle stick into the banana leaving about half of the stick exposed. Place bananas on the baking sheet and freeze for about 30 minutes. Melt the chocolate and butter in a microwave safe bowl, stirring every 30 seconds. Dip the frozen bananas in the chocolate, covering evenly. If desired, sprinkle bananas with your favorite topping. Return dipped bananas to the freezer and freeze until chocolate sets — about 1 hour. Serve or store in an airtight container for up to a week.
