Now that the wave of Jewish holidays has ended, you may find yourself struggling to decide what campus events and activities to attend. “I am most looking forward to the Jewish Refugees in Shanghai exhibit at Hillel, and I am excited to learn about a neglected part of Jewish history — especially in a place at which we often forget to look.”
The exhibit runs October 27 – December 14 at UCLA Hillel (574 Hilgard Ave).

“I am looking forward to challah baking at JAM on Wednesday night. This week is the first challah baking of the quarter — you get to make your own challah, any way you want! You get to be around nice people too! It’s also a nice break from homework and studying.”
JAM hosts challah baking every Wednesday night at 533 Landfair Ave. Stop by at 8:30 pm or stay after Maimonides.

“We sometimes ask ourselves, what does it mean to be a Jew? What is the essence of having the Pintel Yid, or the Jewish Spirit? Yet we can never truly answer these questions without going back to the core. To understand the Torah in a philosophical and historical context gives a deeper meaning to the importance of our ancestry and where we come from, in our time today. Sinai Scholars (helmed by Rabbi Dovid Gurevich) on Tuesday evenings at 7 is a forum at which your questions will be answered, and your understanding deepened. It is truly a great experience, one that will open your eyes and show you an entire new perspective!”

“I am very excited about Chabad’s Ladies’ Spa Night on Wednesday night. It sounds like a fun way to meet other students and recover from the stress of the first few weeks of school. I will also be going to Bruins for Israel meetings to learn more about the politics, history and culture of Israel.”
The annual Ladies’ Spa Night is Wednesday October 16 at 7pm at 10941 Strathmore Drive. Feel free to join for a lovely evening of manicures and snacks. Bruins for Israel meetings are at 6 pm every Tuesday at Hillel (574 Hilgard Ave.) and look out for their other events.
