“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.” — Anne Frank
Hillel at UCLA is known for its social justice projects, whether they are religiously affiliated or not. On Wednesday evening of February 12, Swipes for the Homeless, The HOLA Project, Teens for Jeans, and Hillel at UCLA hosted a philanthropic event: Sandwiches for Smiles. Volunteers assembled multiple hygiene kits and healthy dinner packages, which were then personally delivered to local homeless persons of Westwood and Santa Monica. Additionally, as part of the organization Teens for Jeans, attendees of the event donated jean pants to homeless shelters in Los Angeles. Seeing the donors’ smiles after handing in their packages turned a regular Wednesday evening into a meaningful one!
