Welcome to the Zoomiverse, Bruins!
By now you’ve probably figured out that this quarantine isn’t going anywhere (and—neither are you). That’s okay! We’re all in this together. It’s definitely tough navigating our new day-to-day world, but our HA’AM Team is here for you. And we want to help you survive this crazy pandemic.
So, sit back, relax and let us help you get adjusted to this brave new world with some tips.
Got COVID-19?
We hope you don’t, but if you do feel like you are experiencing some of the symptoms make sure you get tested! You’ll protect yourself and others that way.

Handwashing
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
This is something that has always been important and now even more so. Wash all parts of the hands very well with both soap and water (don’t forget under the fingernails!). Make sure you wash them for at least 20 seconds.
*
Don’t beat yourself up.
So you aren’t as productive as your usual self? Give yourself some credit! This is not an easy situation and the whole world is experiencing it.
*
Make a schedule
One way to bring back some structure (and also help you discern what day it is) is to make a schedule. It can be on your phone, computer, written down or anyway you choose! It doesn’t have to be super detailed; it could just be a plan to eat, attend class, workout, shower and do your schoolwork.
*
Zoom
Yes, it’s all online now. Our classes, office hours, etc. It might feel weird at first, but you can do it! Get acquainted with all the benefits online study has to offer. You can have zoom parties to socialize with friends and attend class in your PJs if you want! You can even work out with others while zooming.

Socializing
I’m sure you all know how to stay in touch with one another. But don’t forget to check in on your friends. Call them up, send memes and you can even date on Zoom. That’s right! Virtual dates are now a thing.
A lot of clubs have joined the Zoomiverse, so you can still take active roles and be a part of the Bruin Community. You can even find different classes online. Do you miss Nooshe Joon, Parasha & Pals and the JLIC family? We’re online now. Come Zoom with us! Mishelanu, SSI, BFI and many of your favorite organizations have transitioned to the online format. Get involved!

Boredom
Some of you are so used to being busy it can be hard to figure out what to do when you can’t go outside and spend time with friends or your significant other. We’ve all been there. So here are some ideas to foster some new creativity:
- Get your art on! (there’s plenty of arts & craft ideas online)
- Make or try new recipes.
- Practice your dance moves (Zoom dance party, anyone?)
- Learn an instrument or write a song.
- Get fit! You can even challenge your friends and Zoom during the workouts (There’s so many YouTube workout videos to choose from).
- Watch movies.
- Read a book.
- Play board games or online games.
- Play interior designer and rearrange your furniture.
- Write a story.
- Do some gardening.
- Learn a foreign language.
- TikTok videos, anyone?
- Listen to a Podcast
The world is your oyster, so get out there and get creative!

Food
If you don’t want to go to the market, many stores will deliver to your home! Just be sure to disinfect the groceries. If you do go to the store, you MUST wear a face covering, and disposable gloves are definitely helpful.
*
Hand sanitizer
Remember: hand sanitizer is not a substitute for washing hands. Just a temporary way to kill bacteria, and it’s very useful in a time like this. So if you’ve been collecting hand sanitizers, the time has come to put them to use.

Don’t believe every article you come across on WhatsApp. There’s so much news and remedies circulating and many of them don’t actually help at all. On the other hand, do keep in touch using WhatsApp. It’s a great place to share and communicate with friends and family who are in different countries, or share memes and videos.
Stay strong Bruins! We’ll get through this together! Catch you all on the Zoomiverse 😉
