The editorial board of Ha’Am News is proud to endorse the candidacy of Ms. Arielle Yael Mokhtarzadeh and Mr. Aaron Boudaie for the 2016-2017 Undergraduate Student Association Council (USAC).
Ms. Mokhtarzadeh, seeking election as the USAC’S president, would bring extensive experience to the council table. She has served competently in crucial leadership roles for a diversity of student government and campus engagements — namely, for the ASUCLA Board of Directors, the UC Student Regent’s office, the Vice Chancellor’s Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion and the Bruins for Israel executive board. Her platform “Bruin Engage” shares Ha’Am’s commitment to preserving the integrity of cultural communities and facilitating conversation between them.
Mr. Boudaie, seeking election as the USAC’s financial supports commissioner (FSC), would also bring extensive experience to the council table. Mr. Boudaie previously worked with and for federal government officials, served the Academic Senate as an undergraduate representative and helped carry out the platforms of the 2015-2016 FSC as his chief-of-staff. As a former engagement fellow for Hillel at UCLA and as a leader in the greater Jewish community on campus, Mr. Boudaie will represent and defend the Jewish Bruin community well at the council table.
Mr. Boudaie and Ms. Mokhtarzadeh each evinced excellent communication skills and upstanding journalistic integrity as former staff writers with Ha’Am News. Working directly with both candidates in the past has inspired great confidence among the Editorial Board that each will bring integrity, a spirit of fairness and a strong work ethic to the USAC.
We are proud to endorse the qualifications of Mr. Boudaie and Ms. Mokhtarzadeh, and we wish them success as they tackle some of the greatest challenges and struggles facing the UCLA community.
